The Mighty Woodsman

Chandler took Walker on his first duck and deer hunt this past Saturday.
We made the dire mistake (to our ears, that is) to tell Walker about the upcoming hunt ahead of time. BIG MISTAKE! For about 4 days he was a broken record set on the album "3 year old version of hunting". It was non stop and got pretty annoying. I have to say though, it was also just so cute to see him so excited about something like that. He felt really big. Ever since there has been even a slight tinge of chill in the air, he has been asking me, "It's feelin' like duck huntin' weather!" He also felt like he was really special because he was going to get to spend some nights with Chandler and Papa at Papa's camp (in Delhi).
They actually killed two ducks! I was glad that he actually got to see some "action" I overheard Walker giving a very lengthy and detailed synopses to an man at church this morning. A very small snippet was, "I killed two wood ducks. When daddy shot one, there was lots and lots of blood, but the other one had no blood....etc" They didn't see any deer on the stand (much to Walker's dismay), but saw one as they were riding back to the camp, and that greatly pleased and sufficiently appeased his young hunting spirit! Chandler said the whole trip, Walker would look up at him and say things like, "Daddy, I sooooo excited" "Daddy, I love you so so so much", or "Thank you ,daddy, for taking me! So precious.

He came back completely wiped out, so I know he had a great time with lots of excitement! Here are some pictures:

Decked in camo and ready to go!

Chandler said that he wanted his hood on at all times!
How big does he look??

Honing his duck calling abilities
I can't tell you how many pictures of Chandler and his friends that I've seen in this and SAME POSE AND SAME LOOK!

I call it the, "It's such strenuous, tough, and manly work to go and dominate the wild, so tough that it musses up your hair and makes you have a serious, worn, yet oh so manly look" look!

I guess this look is genetic or something ;-)

Why am I not surprised that Walker was actually successful at making camo look cute!
He's adorable and looks like he is having the time of his life!

Yeah, Jen, I was actually quite impressed with them myself. And I'm afraid that it's pretty hard to please me ;-)

Emily, I swear Walker walked through my door after that hunting trip like 2 years older!!
